CFD-Based Approach to Propose a Zigzag-Shaped Tube Heat Exchanger without Fins

This study explores the application of zigzag-shaped, finless tubes in enhancing heat transfer performance within exchangers. Using three-dimensional numerical simulations, we examined per unit area and volume pressure drop, comparing these findings with a traditional parallel tube exchanger. innovative design strategy involved arranging zigzag-shaped at varying distances, thermal frictional characteristics were tested different air speeds. research suggests that introduction zigzag exchangers, as opposed to fin-and-tube designs, led significant improvement transfer. enhancement is attributed swirling flow created around tubes, which increased total area. Furthermore, found by 14.2%, 32.1%, 63.9% for angles 30°, 45°, 60°, respectively, when compared Consequently, exchanger demonstrated not only superior transfer, but also reduction loss.
